Tips and advice
Do you want the chairs to look new for longer, feel clean for every customer – and avoid stiff padding? Let us find a simple routine that works in a busy everyday life. Most “leather chairs” in salons are actually vegan leather, also known as artificial leather. It is strong, dirt-repellent, and stays looking good – especially if you care for it properly.

Shampoo, hairspray, skin cream, colour residues, coffee, sweat, and ordinary dust. Over time, it forms a film that makes the surface dry. That is precisely why it makes sense to have a care product that both cleans gently and adds elasticity, so the material does not dry out and crack. If you do not want to read the entire article, you can buy a care set right here.
Imagine closing time. You shake the bottle, spray one to two bursts onto the cloth (not directly on the chair), and wipe the seat, armrests, and backrest in calm movements. Finally, you give a quick after-polish with the cloth’s smooth side, and the chair stands fresh and even without a film. It takes two to three minutes per chair, and the next morning you meet shiny surfaces and a discreet, clean scent.

Because Carisma Cleaning & Care Lotion is developed specifically for professional artificial leather on hairdressing chairs. The lotion is ready to use, cleans without solvents, gently removes dirt, and prevents drying out, so the surface retains its suppleness. You get the set with a lofty, reusable microfiber cloth that makes cleaning easy – and yes, it is thoroughly tested in practice. Are there alternatives? Yes. Would I recommend them to a hairdresser? No.
If colour, coffee, or anything else gets on the upholstery, grab the cloth immediately. Quick wiping makes all the difference. For colour, you should of course remove as much as possible with, for example, kitchen paper or toilet paper. Then come by with the set from Greiner, if possible while the customer is still there. And remember the good habit during colour treatments: a good cover that protects the chair saves you a lot of work and possibly buying new chairs.
Water removes the top dust, but not product film and grease. Spirit and harsh all-purpose cleaners can dry out and wear off the top coat of the covering. The result is a vulnerable surface that ages prematurely. If you had a salon during the corona crisis, where you had to disinfect after every customer, this will not come as a surprise to you.
Give seams, transitions, and armrests a little extra care now and then – residues gather here. Also look at the base: a damp cloth over the cross base and pump keeps metal and chrome neat. Avoid rinsing with too much water; wipe dry afterwards to avoid stains.
Always test a new product on a discreet spot if the surface is very delicate. Consider the age of your furniture: if they are 12 years old now, and they were 15 years old when you bought them, the surface may react negatively to harsh products like spirit. Always avoid contact with eyes and heated surfaces, and do not let the product dry before wiping it off. Store it out of children’s reach.
If every day at closing time you spray Carisma on the cloth and wipe the chair, the artificial leather stays glossy and elastic, and you meet a clean work surface every morning. If stains appear, you remove them immediately. If you make it a habit, you extend the chair’s lifespan, enhance the first impression – and make it pleasant for both you and your customers.
